Sangareddy: Police have arrested a man for allegedly using a fake number plate on his vehicle in an attempt to evade traffic e-challans in Sangareddy district.

According to officials, the accused had reportedly replaced his vehicle’s original registration number with a fabricated number plate to avoid penalties linked to traffic violations.

The irregularity came to light during a routine check, following which traffic police identified the vehicle and took the man into custody. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Police said that using fake or tampered number plates is a serious offence under traffic and motor vehicle laws and warned that such actions attract strict legal consequences.

Officials added that surveillance systems such as CCTV cameras and Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology are being used to detect such violations.

Authorities have urged motorists to follow traffic rules and ensure compliance with vehicle registration norms to avoid legal action.
