n a tragic road accident on National Highway-50 near the Koppal–Vijayanagar border, six persons including a one-year-old child lost their lives on Friday. The accident occurred when a speeding lorry rammed into a tractor from behind, causing the vehicle to lose balance and plunge off a bridge into a gorge.

Around ten others were injured in the incident and are currently undergoing treatment at hospitals in Koppal district and Hosapete. Police said two of the injured are in critical condition.

The deceased have been identified as Kenchappa, Mahantesh, Bharath, Gowramma, Huligetha, and Manyamma. All were residents of villages near Kudligi.

Police and rescue teams rushed to the spot, shifted the injured to hospitals, and cleared traffic on the highway. A case has been registered at Munirabad Police Station.
