Domestic equity benchmarks ended marginally higher on Wednesday, snapping a four-day losing streak. Strong buying in metal, energy and consumer stocks supported the market recovery, while weakness in auto and IT shares capped the gains.
The Nifty gained 33.05 points, or 0.14%, to close at 23,412.60. The BSE Sensex rose 49.74 points, or 0.07%, ending the session at 74,608.98.
Buying interest in metal, energy and FMCG stocks boosted investor sentiment during the session. However, losses in auto and IT counters limited the overall upside. Market analysts said global cues, crude oil price movements and foreign investor activity are likely to influence market direction on Thursday.
