Dowry greed has shattered the dreams of another family in Bihar. The shocking incident, reported from Muzaffarpur, has now sparked nationwide discussion.
A young woman from Mustafapur was engaged to a man from Vaishali district. Their engagement ceremony was held grandly on February 22. The bride’s family reportedly spent over ₹14 lakh on the event, including gold jewellery, cash, and advance payments for wedding expenses.
However, just a day after the engagement, the groom’s family allegedly revealed their real demand
a WagonR car. Despite repeated requests from the bride’s family explaining their financial limitations, the groom’s side refused to back down.
When the girl’s family made it clear that they could not provide the car, the situation took a shocking turn. The groom’s sister reportedly called and claimed that the bride had “thin hair” and “hair fall problems,” saying that was the reason they no longer wanted the marriage.
The humiliation reportedly left the young woman mentally distressed. Her family questioned how the issue suddenly became a problem after the engagement, despite both families meeting several times earlier.
Following a complaint filed by the victim’s mother, a case was registered at the Muzaffarpur Women Police Station. Police have booked six people, including the groom, under charges related to dowry harassment, cheating, and assault. An investigation is currently underway.
