The Maharashtra Cyber Department has directed tech giants Google and Apple to remove ride-hailing apps such as Uber, Ola, and Rapido from their app stores.

The order was issued by the Additional Director General of Police under Section 79(3)(b) of the Information Technology Act, 2000. Authorities have asked both platforms to “remove and disable access” to these apps.

The action comes amid concerns over unauthorised bike taxi operations running without proper government approvals, prompting stricter enforcement in the state.
