Political drama in Tamil Nadu has reached a peak as actor Vijay’s expected swearing-in as Chief Minister hit a sudden roadblock. Reports had claimed that the TVK government would be formed with the support of Left parties, VCK and IUML, and that Vijay would take oath on May 9 at 11 AM.

However, in a major last-minute twist, the Governor’s office clarified that TVK currently has the support of only 116 MLAs, falling short of the majority mark by two members. Raj Bhavan sources also stated that support letters from VCK and IUML had not been submitted.

The situation became more complicated after IUML announced that it was withdrawing support. With this development, Vijay’s swearing-in plans came to a halt. Governor R.V. Arlekar’s office confirmed that Vijay had not been invited to take oath as Chief Minister on Saturday.

Despite intense efforts by TVK to secure support from VCK, AMMK and IUML legislators, the party failed to gather the required numbers. The latest developments have once again pushed Tamil Nadu politics into uncertainty, leaving Vijay just two steps away from the Chief Minister’s chair.
