The Joint Action Committee (JAC) of APSRTC employees’ unions has demanded that the Andhra Pradesh Government cancel tenders awarded to private firms for operating electric buses and instead allow APSRTC to procure and run the e-bus fleet.
JAC leaders Y. Srinivasa Rao and Palisetti Damodara Rao submitted representations to Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Transport Department Chief Secretary M.T. Krishna Babu, and APSRTC management. Their key demands include filling 10,000 vacant posts, purchasing 4,000 new buses, clearing pending PRC and DA arrears, announcing four pending DAs, and constituting the 12th Pay Revision Commission.
The unions warned that handing over e-bus operations and depot lands to private agencies could lead to the gradual privatisation of APSRTC. If the government does not withdraw the decision, employees will launch statewide protests, including red-ribbon demonstrations and gate meetings on June 23 and 24.
