A major development has emerged in the Andhra Pradesh liquor scam case that has triggered political controversy across the state. The Enforcement Directorate has arrested Karumuri Sunil, son of former minister Karumuri Nageswara Rao, in connection with the alleged scam.

Sunil was taken into custody in Hyderabad and later produced before the Nampally Court, which remanded him to judicial custody until June 25. He has since been shifted to Chanchalguda Central Jail.

According to the ED, large-scale irregularities took place in liquor transportation tenders awarded by the Andhra Pradesh State Beverages Corporation Limited. Investigators allege that tender conditions were altered to benefit Sigma Supply Chain Solutions, causing an estimated loss of ₹195 crore to the state exchequer. Further arrests are likely as the probe continues.
