Flight operations have officially commenced from the Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport in Bhogapuram. IndiGo flight 6E 6408, arriving from Hyderabad, became the first flight to land at the airport and received a grand welcome from officials and GMR representatives.
Passengers on the inaugural flight were welcomed with Etikoppaka wooden toys as special souvenirs. Flights subsequently departed for Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and other destinations.
Bhogapuram Airport will offer flight services to Hyderabad, Tirupati, Chennai, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Mumbai. International connectivity will also be available, with Air India and Scoot operating services to Singapore, while IndiGo will connect Bhogapuram with Abu Dhabi.
The launch of the airport is expected to significantly improve air connectivity for North Andhra and boost regional travel and economic activity.
