M. Sribharat said that the State government is planning to inaugurate the Bhogapuram International Airport on July 5 by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He stated that preparations for the inauguration are progressing at a brisk pace.
Speaking to the media on Saturday, Sribharat said that flight operations are expected to begin immediately after the inauguration. He welcomed the announcement by Scoot that it will start international services from Bhogapuram Airport from July 8. He expressed confidence that several other domestic and international airlines would soon announce their services from the new airport.
The MP advised passengers who have booked tickets from the existing Visakhapatnam Airport for travel after July 8 to confirm which airport their flights will operate from. He warned that passengers could face inconvenience if they arrive at the old airport without checking updated flight details. He added that, like Scoot Airlines, other airline companies are also expected to inform passengers about the airport transition.
Sribharat said the State government is focusing on improving road connectivity and public transport facilities to the airport. Arrangements are being made to ensure the availability of buses, cabs, auto-rickshaws, and other transport services for passengers.
Describing Bhogapuram International Airport as a major milestone for North Andhra’s development, he said the airport would significantly boost tourism, information technology, industrial growth, and employment opportunities in the region.
