The Andhra Pradesh government has unveiled major plans for the development of temples across the state. Endowments Minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy announced that works worth Rs 832 crore will be undertaken to strengthen temple infrastructure and support religious institutions.
Giving priority to the construction of bhajana mandirs, the minister said Rs 113.25 crore has already been released for 679 bhajana mandirs, while another Rs 750 crore has been sanctioned for building 5,000 new bhajana mandirs across the state.
Under the Dhoopa Deepa Naivedyam scheme, financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per month will be provided to 6,170 temples. A total of Rs 74.04 crore will be directly credited into the bank accounts of priests, he said.
The minister stated that the government is committed to preserving temple traditions and improving facilities for devotees throughout Andhra Pradesh.
