Artificial Intelligence spending is rising rapidly among businesses, but companies are still spending more on employees than AI, according to new research from the Ramp AI Index. The report shows that the top 1% of “AI-pilled” firms spend around 7,500 dollars per employee every month on AI tools and computing power.
However, that remains well below the average monthly salary of a software engineer, estimated at about 16,000 dollars. The top 10% of firms spend around 611 dollars per employee, while median businesses spend just over 11 dollars monthly. Despite growing costs, AI investments continue to increase, with spending among the biggest users rising more than 14% last month as companies adopt multiple AI models and platforms.
