Greece-based Eurobank is set to open a representative office in India to strengthen trade and business ties between India and Europe. The move follows the landmark EU-India free trade agreement signed earlier this year, expected to significantly boost bilateral commerce. Eurobank aims to position Greece and Cyprus as strategic gateways for Indian companies entering European markets.
The bank has already launched UPI-based cross-border remittance services for Indians living in Greece. Initially, the India office will focus on advisory and trade financing services through its European branches. Eurobank is also targeting high net-worth individuals and family offices interested in establishing a presence in Cyprus, though it currently has no plans to offer regular banking services like loans or deposits in India.
