Passengers arriving at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad will have to pay a new User Development Fee (UDF) from September 1, 2026.

The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority (AERA) has approved a revised tariff structure that introduces UDF for arriving passengers for the first time at Hyderabad airport.

How Much Will Passengers Pay?

Under the new tariff structure:

  • Domestic arriving passengers: ₹220

  • International arriving passengers: ₹440

  • Domestic departing passengers: ₹515

  • International departing passengers: ₹1,030

The revised charges will apply to tickets issued from September 1, 2026.

Departure Charges Reduced

While arriving passengers will now be charged UDF, the fee for passengers departing from Hyderabad has been reduced.

The earlier UDF was ₹750 for domestic departures and ₹1,500 for international departures. These have now been reduced to ₹515 and ₹1,030, respectively.

Why Is UDF Being Charged on Arrivals?

According to the revised tariff rationale, arriving passengers also use airport infrastructure such as aerobridges, travelators and baggage conveyor systems.

Therefore, the cost of providing and maintaining these facilities will be shared between arriving and departing passengers rather than being recovered only from departing travellers.

Further Changes Expected

The new tariff framework will remain applicable until March 2031, although the UDF is expected to be revised in subsequent years.

Domestic arrival charges, for example, are expected to rise gradually under the approved tariff structure.

Airport Infrastructure Expansion

Hyderabad airport is also preparing for major infrastructure expansion, including the Northern Runway and Northern Precinct Development projects.

The planned expansion is expected to significantly increase the airport’s passenger-handling capacity and support the city’s growing air-traffic demand.

Hyderabad Airport Sees Record Passenger Traffic

Hyderabad airport handled around 3.05 crore passengers during the 2025-26 financial year, marking its highest-ever annual passenger traffic.

With passenger numbers continuing to grow, the revised UDF structure is expected to contribute towards recovering the cost of airport infrastructure and development.
