The Tamil film industry continues to mourn the loss of legendary filmmaker Bharathiraja, as film and political personalities flock to his Chennai residence to pay their final respects.
Deeply shocked by the news of Bharathiraja’s passing, Vijay rushed to the veteran director’s residence and paid homage to his mortal remains. In an emotional moment that moved many, Vijay was seen resting his head on Bharathiraja’s body, visibly overwhelmed with grief.
Expressing his condolences to the bereaved family, Vijay said Bharathiraja’s death is an irreplaceable loss to Indian cinema. As a mark of respect for the filmmaker’s extraordinary contribution to Tamil cinema, he announced that the last rites would be conducted with full state honours.
Several prominent personalities, including M. K. Stalin, actress Radhika and actor Suriya, also visited the residence to pay their respects.
Earlier, the Tamil Film Active Producers Association had urged the Chief Minister to accord a ceremonial state tribute to its founding president. Responding promptly to the appeal, Vijay approved the decision, recognizing Bharathiraja’s unparalleled contribution to the Tamil film industry.
Leaders from the Telugu film fraternity, including Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan and Allu Arjun, also paid heartfelt tributes, recalling their cherished association with the legendary filmmaker.
