Bollywood romantic drama ‘Cocktail 2’ continues its successful theatrical run, crossing the lifetime box office collection of the first film in the franchise. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna in lead roles, the movie has earned more than ₹78 crore in India net collections by its ninth day.

Directed by Homi Adajania, the film was released amid high expectations due to its star-studded cast and connection with the popular Cocktail franchise. The movie attracted audiences during its opening week, with strong interest driven by the lead actors’ performances and the film’s romantic storyline.

According to early box office reports, ‘Cocktail 2’ recorded collections of over ₹3 crore on its ninth day, taking its total domestic net earnings to around ₹78 crore. The film had crossed the ₹70 crore mark during its first week, maintaining steady momentum at the ticket counters.

The new film features a fresh cast and storyline while carrying forward the spirit of the original Cocktail, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone and Diana Penty in 2012. The sequel has managed to create its own identity among viewers with its modern treatment and new-generation actors.

Trade analysts believe that the coming days will be important for the film as it faces competition from other releases. Sustaining audience interest and maintaining occupancy levels will determine its overall box office performance.

Despite mixed reactions from some sections of viewers, the film’s ability to surpass the first instalment’s lifetime earnings marks an important achievement for the franchise.
