The highly anticipated trailer for Godzilla Minus Zero has been released, offering a closer look at the next chapter in Takashi Yamazaki’s acclaimed Godzilla saga.
Set in 1949 Japan, two years after the events of Godzilla Minus One, the upcoming film follows a country still struggling to recover from the devastation of war and Godzilla’s earlier attack. However, the apparent defeat of the monster has not brought an end to the danger.
The new trailer suggests that Godzilla has survived and is once again emerging as a devastating force. Human forces are seen preparing for another confrontation, while several sequences point towards a larger and more dangerous threat.
The biggest talking point from the trailer is the apparent tease of King Ghidorah, one of Godzilla’s most iconic enemies. The mysterious roar and imagery have sparked speculation that the legendary three-headed monster could play a major role in the film’s climactic battle.
The movie brings back Ryunosuke Kamiki as Koichi Shikishima and Minami Hamabe as Noriko Oishi, continuing the emotional story established in Godzilla Minus One. The cast also includes Min Tanaka, Masami Nagasawa and Jun Kunimura in new roles.
Yamazaki returns as director, writer and visual-effects supervisor. The filmmaker has indicated that the sequel will focus not simply on making Godzilla bigger or more powerful, but on creating a stronger sense of fear and psychological terror.
Godzilla Minus Zero is also notable for being the first Japanese Godzilla production filmed for IMAX, promising a large-scale theatrical experience. The film is scheduled to release in Japan in November 2026, with an international release following shortly after.
