Epic – First Semester is a passable love drama with a few good moments. Anand Deverakonda and Vaishnavi Chaitanya deliver decent performances, and their chemistry is one of the film’s highlights. The comedy works in parts, while Hesham Abdul Wahab’s music adds considerable value. However, repetitive writing, slow narration and limited progression hold the film back. The emotional payoff in the final portions works to an extent, but it comes a little too late. If you can sit through the slower stretches for the occasional engaging moments, Epic – First Semester is worth a watch. Keep your expectations in check.
