Tom Holland's ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continues to perform strongly at the Indian box office even as it enters the later stages of its theatrical run.
The superhero film collected Rs 1.10 crore gross on its fourth Monday, including Rs 90 lakh in net earnings. With the latest day's numbers added, the film's fourth-week collection over four days stands at Rs 12.60 crore gross. Its overall India gross has now reached Rs 570.35 crore.
The Monday figure represents a significant drop from the weekend, but the film has still managed to maintain a reasonable pace for a movie that is already in its fourth week. The strong run has kept the film comfortably among the biggest Hollywood performers in the Indian market.
The film could add another Rs 15-16 crore by the end of its fourth week, potentially taking its total to around Rs 575 crore. However, reaching the Rs 600 crore mark will require another Rs 25 crore or so, which now appears difficult with a new major release arriving in cinemas.
One of the biggest achievements of the film's Indian run has been its audience turnout. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has crossed 2 crore theatrical footfalls, making it only the third Hollywood film in history to achieve that milestone in India.
The other two films to cross the mark are ‘Titanic’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’.
The movie built most of its total during its opening weeks. It earned Rs 393 crore gross during the first week, followed by Rs 128 crore in the second week and Rs 36.75 crore in the third. During the fourth weekend, it added Rs 2 crore on Friday, Rs 4.50 crore on Saturday and Rs 5 crore on Sunday before adding another Rs 1.10 crore on Monday.
The numbers underline the strong reception for the Tom Holland-led superhero film in India. While the Rs 600 crore milestone is becoming increasingly difficult to reach, crossing the Rs 570 crore mark puts the film firmly among the biggest Hollywood successes in the country's theatrical market.
With its run now approaching the final stretch, the focus will be on how much the film can add before newer releases take up more screens. For now, however, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has already delivered a blockbuster performance in India.
