Veteran Indian actor Pradeep Rawat, celebrated for portraying some of Indian cinema's most iconic villains and powerful supporting characters, passed away at the age of 74 after a relapse of blood cancer. According to his manager, Rawat had successfully recovered from cancer several years ago, but the disease returned about six weeks ago, leading to a rapid decline in his health.
He had been undergoing treatment in a Mumbai-area hospital, where his condition worsened after a significant drop in platelet count. Despite intensive medical care, he could not recover. His funeral is being held today, with family members, friends, and members of the film fraternity gathering to pay their final respects.
Pradeep Rawat began his acting journey with B.R. Chopra's legendary television series Mahabharat, where his portrayal of Ashwatthama earned him widespread recognition. Over a career spanning more than four decades, he appeared in numerous Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and other regional-language films, becoming one of Indian cinema's most respected character actors.
He became a household name through memorable performances in films such as Lagaan, Ghajini, Sarfarosh, Sye, Chatrapathi, Desamuduru, Sarrainodu, Waltair Veerayya, and many others.
