The prestigious Telugu organization in the United States, Mana American Telugu Association, or MATA, has begun a series of events leading up to its 2026 Convention.
As part of these celebrations, a student chess tournament was organized in Edison, New Jersey, at the Swaraj TV office.
The tournament, open to students from Grades 1 to 10, was conducted in a 5-round Swiss system format and remained an unrated event, encouraging wide participation.
Young participants turned up in large numbers and showcased impressive strategic skills, making the competition both engaging and highly competitive.
Winners of the tournament will receive a special opportunity to compete in the MATA Convention 2026 Chess Championship, where they can aim for top honors and trophies.
