Akshaya Patra Foundation

The Akshaya Patra Foundation (TAPF) is one of India's leading non-profit charitable organizations, dedicated to eliminating classroom hunger and supporting children's education through nutritious school meals. Founded in 2000 and headquartered in Bengaluru, Karnataka, the Foundation partners with the Government of India under the PM POSHAN (Mid-Day Meal) Programme to provide freshly cooked, hygienic, and nutritious meals to children studying in government and government-aided schools.

What began by serving 1,500 children in five schools has grown into one of the world's largest school meal programmes. Today, the Foundation reaches more than 2.35 million children every school day across 16 states and 3 Union Territories, helping improve nutrition, school attendance, and learning outcomes. Beyond school meals, Akshaya Patra also provides food relief during natural disasters, emergencies, and humanitarian crises
