India Philanthropy Alliance (IPA)

Our mission is to enhance collaboration among organizations working to advance the development agenda in India. We work together to foster a more robust and better recognized culture of giving among Indian-Americans and over time, increase the scale and impact of philanthropy benefiting India.‍ ‍ The alliance is comprised of 26 philanthropic and nonprofit organizations that collectively raise more than $250 million annually in philanthropic donations, including more than $100 million in the United States to support their evidenced-based development and humanitarian programs. Their most generous donors are Indian-American entrepreneurs and professionals as well as companies doing business in both the United States and India.

Together, these 26 organizations have cumulatively impacted more than 70 million people with their programs spanning education, health care, livelihood support, agriculture and water management, and other essential services. They form the nucleus of our network of professionally run India-focused organizations operating in the United States. India Giving Day, a campaign to galvanize more and better giving to India, completed its fourth year on March 13, 2026, and raised $5,645,896 for the 51 nonprofit organizations that participated. The Youth Essay Competition, another key initiative of the Alliance, was launched on India Giving Day, March 13, 2026. The competition is now underway and submissions will be accepted until July 1, 2026. Click here to learn more.
