The Kerala government has announced a series of measures aimed at improving infrastructure and healthcare services in government medical college hospitals across the state. The initiative is intended to address the rising patient load while ensuring better treatment facilities and improved healthcare delivery.

According to the Health Minister, the government will focus on expanding hospital infrastructure by constructing new buildings, increasing the number of beds, and creating additional posts for doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals. Several underutilized spaces within medical college campuses will also be developed to enhance service capacity.

The government is also exploring support through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives to modernize hospitals with advanced medical equipment and upgraded facilities. Officials believe these improvements will strengthen Kerala's public healthcare system and reduce the burden on tertiary care institutions.

In addition, efforts are being made to improve healthcare delivery at Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and Community Health Centres (CHCs). By strengthening services at the grassroots level, the government aims to reduce overcrowding at medical college hospitals and ensure patients receive timely treatment closer to their homes.

The proposed upgrades form part of the state's broader strategy to enhance public healthcare infrastructure, improve patient experience, and ensure government hospitals remain equipped to meet future healthcare challenges.
