As severe floods devastate Nepal, India has stepped up with major humanitarian assistance. Declaring that India will “always stand with Nepal,” the Indian government is sending essential supplies and medical aid to support emergency relief operations.
The first consignment of 10 tonnes of relief material has already reached Nepal. Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava formally handed over the supplies to Nepal’s Minister Khadga Raj Paudel.
India has now further accelerated its relief efforts. A second special aircraft carrying 37.5 tonnes of HADR supplies, essential medicines, life-saving drugs and ready-to-eat food packets has departed for Nepal. The assistance is expected to provide immediate relief to thousands of people affected by the devastating floods.
India has reaffirmed its commitment to providing all necessary assistance to Nepal during this difficult time. Standing by its neighbour in crisis, India once again demonstrates the strength of its humanitarian commitment.
