Nepal is facing one of its worst disasters in recent memory as the death toll from the devastating floods and mudslides continues to rise. Search and rescue teams are continuing operations in some of the hardest-hit areas, where thick layers of mud and debris have made access extremely difficult. Several communities have been left devastated, with homes and key transport links destroyed. Hydropower facilities and other infrastructure have also suffered major damage, leaving rescue teams facing difficult terrain and limited access. Authorities and international teams are continuing efforts to locate missing people, recover bodies and provide emergency assistance to survivors. Nepal has also appealed for significant international support for its recovery efforts as the country begins the long and difficult process of rebuilding.
