Nepal Foreign Minister Shisir Khanal arrived in New Delhi on an official visit from June 5-7 and held talks with India's National Security Adviser Ajit Doval. He is the first minister from Prime Minister Balen Shah’s government to visit India since Nepal’s new administration took office in March 2026.

India's Ministry of External Affairs said discussions will focus on development cooperation, trade, investment, connectivity, energy, and people-to-people relations. The visit reflects growing security and diplomatic engagement between the two neighboring countries.

The visit also comes amid renewed discussions on longstanding border issues, including the Kalapani-Lipulekh-Limpiyadhura dispute. Nepal hopes to revive bilateral dialogue and strengthen cooperation across multiple sectors. During his stay, Khanal is also participating in policy discussions with Indian think tanks and officials.
