New York City and New Jersey are once again bracing for severe weather, with forecasters warning of heavy rain, flash flooding, and strong thunderstorms on Friday. Authorities have declared a First Alert Weather Day as isolated downpours could quickly flood streets and low-lying areas.

New Jersey Governor Mikie Sherrill urged residents to stay alert, avoid driving through flooded roads, and follow weather warnings as damaging winds and heavy rain are expected throughout the afternoon and evening.

The latest weather threat comes just days after powerful storms inundated neighborhoods across the region. In Ocean Township, New Jersey, the roof of a BJ's Wholesale Club collapsed during the severe weather. Officials are advising residents to remain cautious as another round of potentially dangerous storms moves into the area.
