Prime Minister Narendra Modi signed several key agreements during his Italy visit. Modi said the bilateral talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni were highly successful. He announced that Italian companies would invest 20 billion euros in India by 2029. Both nations also agreed to work together in the fields of Artificial Intelligence and Quantum Technology. India and Italy reaffirmed their commitment to implementing the IMEC Corridor project.
Modi stated that nearly 800 Italian companies are currently operating in India. He said the strategic and cultural partnership between the two countries has grown stronger. The Prime Minister also noted that yoga enjoys great popularity in Italy. Both leaders expressed consensus on strengthening cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region and boosting India-European Union relations.
Speaking on the Russia-Ukraine war, Modi emphasized that dialogue is the only solution to conflicts. He also warned that terror funding poses a serious threat to global peace.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni gave a grand welcome to PM Modi in Rome. The two leaders later attended a dinner meeting and visited the historic Colosseum together. Meloni explained the rich history of Rome to Modi during the visit. She also took a selfie with the Indian Prime Minister and posted on social media saying, “Welcome to Rome, my friend.”
