The 13th BRICS Education Ministers' Meeting, hosted by India in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, concluded successfully with member countries adopting a five-point joint declaration aimed at strengthening cooperation in the education sector.
The meeting was chaired by Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi, who stressed the importance of collaboration among BRICS nations to build future-ready education systems capable of addressing global challenges. He highlighted that education should focus on resilience, innovation, and international cooperation to prepare students for a rapidly changing world.
The joint declaration outlines five key priorities, including ensuring equitable access to quality education, promoting early childhood education, strengthening skill development, encouraging research and innovation, and enhancing cooperation for sustainable development.
The ministers also emphasized expanding academic collaboration among universities, researchers, and students across BRICS countries. They called for greater cooperation in digital learning, technology-driven education, startup ecosystems, academic mobility, and mutual recognition of qualifications.
Speaking at the meeting, Pralhad Joshi said that education systems must become more inclusive, technology-driven, and future-oriented while ensuring that no learner is left behind. He also highlighted India's commitment to sharing best practices and strengthening educational partnerships within the BRICS framework.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of BRICS nations to building inclusive, resilient, and innovation-driven education systems, with member countries agreeing to work together in shaping the future of global education.
