According to CENTCOM, an American aircraft carrier and a guided-missile destroyer were targeted by multiple Iranian attacks while operating in regional waters.

The U.S. military said both vessels successfully evaded the incoming attacks and that no American personnel were injured.

Three Iranian Oil Tankers Hit

Following the alleged missile attacks, U.S. forces struck three Iranian crude-oil carriers, according to CENTCOM.

The military said two tankers were permanently disabled, while a third vessel was completely destroyed after being struck at several points.

The vessels identified by CENTCOM were:

  • M/T Downy — struck off the coast of Kharg Island.

  • M/T Stark 1 — struck near Jask.

  • M/T Kylo, also known as Noxen — an unladen tanker hit in the Gulf of Oman.

CENTCOM Links Tankers to IRGC Funding

The U.S. military said the three tankers were connected to what it described as a multibillion-dollar shadow network that helps finance Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its regional armed proxies.

CENTCOM Commander Adm. Brad Cooper warned that Washington would continue taking measures to defend American forces and could target Iran's exposed oil fleet if necessary.

Iran Reports Attack Near Kharg Island

Iranian media separately reported that an Iranian tanker came under attack near Kharg Island, one of the country's major oil-export hubs.

Iranian reports said there were no casualties in that incident and that the crew was being evacuated. The competing accounts highlight the rapidly escalating military confrontation between Washington and Tehran.

Kharg Island and Global Oil Concerns

Kharg Island is strategically important to Iran's oil industry and has become a major focus during the conflict.

The latest strikes have raised concerns about further disruption to shipping and energy supplies, particularly around the Persian Gulf, Gulf of Oman and Strait of Hormuz, a critical route for global oil transportation.
