A cobbler from Gudamalani town in Rajasthan's Balotra district, Jitendra Kumar Jingar, has received a GST recovery notice of nearly ₹6.79 crore, allegedly linked to a company he says he has no connection with. According to Jitendra, he has never conducted any business in Tamil Nadu and was shocked to learn that a firm had allegedly been registered in his name.

The notice, issued by the Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Department, states that a company named Shri Shivam Exporters accumulated GST dues of about ₹6.79 crore for the financial years 2017–18 to 2019–20. It also directed banks to freeze bank accounts and related financial assets linked to the PAN used for the firm's registration.

Jitendra has alleged that his PAN card and other identity documents were misused without his knowledge to fraudulently register the company. He suspects that documents submitted earlier to a finance company or another institution may have been leaked and later used by fraudsters to create the fake business. However, this allegation has not been independently verified.

The cobbler, who reportedly earns around ₹10,000–₹15,000 per month, has approached the authorities seeking cancellation of the recovery proceedings and a thorough investigation into the alleged identity theft. His family said they were unaware of the issue until they visited the bank and learned about the recovery notice and related restrictions.

The incident has once again highlighted concerns about identity theft, PAN misuse, and fraudulent GST registrations. Authorities are expected to examine the matter to determine how the registration was created and identify those responsible if any wrongdoing is established.
