The 19th American Telugu Association (ATA) Conference & Youth Convention 2026, being held at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland, continued with grand celebrations on its second day, bringing together thousands of Telugu people from across the globe.
One of the biggest announcements of the day came from Telangana Tourism and Culture Minister Jupally Krishna Rao, who revealed that the Telangana government would establish an NRI Bhavan in Hyderabad with an estimated investment of ₹20 crore. He said the facility would serve as a dedicated support center for Non-Resident Indians and further strengthen the relationship between Telangana and the global Telugu diaspora. He also encouraged NRIs to play a greater role in promoting Telangana's tourism, culture, and investment opportunities worldwide.
Telangana Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka participated in the Indian Overseas Congress session, emphasizing the significant role played by the Indian diaspora in the state's development. ATA organizers also honored leaders from various Telugu organizations and recognized Telugu members serving in both the Indian and U.S. armed forces for their contributions.
The convention's cultural segment captivated audiences with colorful performances celebrating Telugu traditions. Acclaimed fashion designer Archana Kochhar presented a special fashion showcase featuring Telangana handloom and Ahimsa silk collections. Popular mimicry artist Shiva Reddy entertained attendees with his humorous performance, while actors Pooja Hegde and Adivi Sesh made special appearances, delighting fans and interacting with the Telugu community.
The day's events began with vibrant Bonalu processions, Pothuraju performances, and traditional folk dances, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Telangana. ATA President Jayanth Challa inaugurated a Shiva Lingam installation with special prayers, symbolizing the convention's spiritual significance.
Another major attraction was a grand dance production featuring nearly 180 performers from seven dance schools, choreographed around a song written by celebrated lyricist Jonnavithula Ramalingeswara Rao.
Renowned spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar addressed attendees through a special video message, appreciating ATA's efforts in promoting Telugu culture and community service. Visitors also explored exhibition booths showcasing education, healthcare, technology, business, and entrepreneurship.
In recognition of ATA's continued efforts to preserve and promote Telugu language and culture, the State of Maryland presented a special commendation to the organization, acknowledging its contributions to the Telugu community in North America.
The second day of ATA 2026 concluded with overwhelming participation, reinforcing the convention's reputation as one of the largest and most influential gatherings of the global Telugu community.
