Indian Army officer Major Abhilasha Barak has been honored with the prestigious United Nations Military Gender Advocate of the Year Award 2025. Serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, she was recognized for promoting women’s empowerment, gender equality, and community engagement in peacekeeping operations.
As commander of the Female Engagement Team, Major Barak played a key role in increasing the participation of women and girls in local communities. She becomes the third Indian recipient of this prestigious UN honor, highlighting India’s significant contribution to global peacekeeping missions.
