A young Telugu woman's dream of building a successful future in the United States came to a tragic end after she was killed in a road accident in New Jersey.
Makkena Prasanna (27), a native of Ummadivaram village in Vinukonda mandal of Palnadu district, Andhra Pradesh, died on the spot when the car she was travelling in lost control and crashed into a tree while returning from an event with three friends on Tuesday. Her three companions sustained injuries.
Prasanna, the eldest daughter of farmer couple Makkena Venkateswarlu and Govindamma, had moved to the United States in 2022 to pursue higher education. She completed her MS degree and was searching for a job.
The news of her sudden death has left her family devastated and cast a pall of gloom over her native village.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Whip and Vinukonda MLA GV Anjaneyulu spoke with the bereaved family and assured them that efforts are underway to coordinate with the concerned authorities to bring Prasanna's mortal remains back to India at the earliest.
Her family has appealed to the government for the swift repatriation of her body so they can perform her last rites in her hometown.
