A massive land scam worth nearly ₹1,500 crore has surfaced in Hyderabad’s Gandipet area, where fake government documents were allegedly used in an attempt to grab valuable land. The case has sparked political controversy after the name of former YSRCP MLA Bolla Brahmanaidu emerged during the investigation.
Addressing the media, Serilingampally DCP Srinivas said fake government orders, or GOs, were created claiming that land in Survey Number 18 of Gandipet had been regularized. The fraud came to light following a complaint filed by the Gandipet Tahsildar.
Police arrested Nimmala Rajesh Goud, Venugopal, and Sai Kiran for preparing forged documents. Former MLA Bolla Brahmanaidu and Bolla Ramesh are currently absconding, officials said.
According to investigators, the accused planned to sell the land at nearly ₹3.5 crore per acre. Police conducted searches at the accused persons’ residences after obtaining court orders and seized bank passbooks, mobile phones, and laptops. Officials also found evidence of financial transactions worth around ₹4 crore in the illegal deal. Investigators revealed that ₹1.25 crore was transferred in two installments from Bolla Brahmanaidu’s bank account.
