Rocky Flintoff, son of former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, continues to make headlines with his impressive performances. The 18-year-old smashed a sensational century for Lancashire against Somerset in the One-Day Cup on Tuesday, reaching the milestone in just 65 balls.
Rocky eventually finished with a brilliant 123 off 76 balls, including 10 fours and seven sixes. His explosive knock, combined with Keaton Jennings’ 156 off 127 balls, helped Lancashire post a massive 443/6 in 50 overs. Lancashire went on to register a comprehensive 174-run victory.
Rocky has already achieved a feat that surpassed his father’s record. In 2025, aged just 16 years and 291 days, he became the youngest player to score a maiden century for the England Lions when he hit a hundred against a Cricket Australia XI. He broke the previous record held by his father Andrew, who had scored his first Lions century at the age of 20 years and 28 days.
Rocky has so far featured in five First-Class matches and 14 List A games, steadily building his reputation as one of England’s promising young batters.
Meanwhile, Andrew Flintoff recently stepped down as England Lions head coach after being appointed head coach of Sydney Thunder in Australia’s Big Bash League. The former England captain spent 23 months in charge of the Lions after returning to cricket in 2024 following his involvement in a car crash while filming the BBC motoring show Top Gear.
Flintoff, who played a key role in England’s famous 2005 Ashes triumph, has also worked with England’s senior white-ball teams and was part of the coaching staff during the 2024 T20 World Cup. He previously coached Northern Superchargers in The Hundred.
