After scripting a remarkable comeback to win the men's 60kg boxing gold medal at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Indian boxer Sachin Siwach has turned his attention to his next major challenge—the Asian Games.
Siwach defeated Tryagain Morning Ndevelo of Namibia by a 3-2 split decision in a thrilling final, overcoming an early deficit to secure one of India's biggest boxing victories at the Games. His performance also contributed to India's impressive boxing medal haul at the Commonwealth Games.
Speaking after his return to India, Siwach said that watching the Indian tricolour being hoisted after winning gold is an unforgettable feeling and the biggest motivation for every athlete.
"When the national flag is raised, it's a different kind of happiness. That's what we compete for. My next goal is to win a gold medal at the Asian Games," he said.
The boxer added that the support and encouragement from fans have inspired him to work even harder. He expressed confidence that with consistent preparation and dedication, he can deliver another medal-winning performance for India at the continental event.
