England have been dealt a potential defensive setback ahead of their FIFA World Cup 2026 quarter-final clash against Norway, with centre-back Marc Guehi racing against time to recover from a hamstring injury.
The 25-year-old Manchester City defender sustained the injury during England's 3-2 Round of 16 victory over Mexico. Guehi did not take part in England's final training session at the Swope Soccer training base in Kansas City before the squad travelled to Miami for Saturday's knockout encounter.
Although Guehi was seen walking around the training ground, he did not participate in full team drills. According to multiple reports, including Sky Sports, the injury is not considered serious, but the defender has limited time to prove his fitness ahead of the crucial quarter-final.
England head coach Thomas Tuchel remains optimistic that Guehi could still be available for selection if he recovers in time.
England's defensive concerns have already been compounded by the suspension of Jarell Quansah, who received a two-match ban after being sent off during the dramatic win over Mexico.
If Guehi fails to recover, Tuchel may be forced to reshuffle his defence as England aim to book a place in the World Cup semi-finals with victory over Norway.
