The United States has suffered a major setback ahead of its crucial FIFA World Cup 2026 Group D clash against Australia. Star forward Christian Pulisic has been ruled out of the match due to a calf injury, head coach Mauricio Pochettino confirmed.
Pulisic sustained the injury during the USA’s 4-1 victory over Paraguay and was substituted at half-time. Although he has resumed training, the Chelsea and USA star is not yet fit enough to return to action.
Pochettino said Pulisic’s recovery is progressing well and expressed hope that he will be available for selection soon.
The USA and Australia will face off in Seattle, with both teams having the opportunity to secure a place in the knockout stage with a victory.
