A funny on-air moment involving former India coach and commentator Ravi Shastri grabbed attention during the IPL 2026 match between Gujarat Titans and Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens.
While hosting the toss, Shastri mistakenly said Gujarat Titans had already qualified for the IPL 2026 playoffs. Speaking to captain Shubman Gill, he said, “You’ve got the Q alphabet already stamped against your team.”
However, Gujarat had not yet officially secured a playoff berth mathematically, despite being in a strong position on the points table. The comment quickly went viral among cricket fans on social media.
This is not the first time Shastri has made an on-air slip. Earlier this year, he also made a mistaken call during the T20 World Cup final commentary.
