Meanwhile, Telugu cricketer Sri Charani achieved a rare milestone in the T20I format during India’s match against Hong Kong on Thursday. She became the second-highest Indian wicket-taker in women’s T20Is in a calendar year.
Sri Charani claimed two wickets for 16 runs in her three overs against Hong Kong, taking her tally for the year to 31 wickets. She moved past Deepti Sharma, who took 30 wickets in 2024, to claim the second spot on the list.
Poonam Yadav currently tops the list with 35 wickets in 2018. With several matches still remaining in the calendar year, Sri Charani has a strong chance of surpassing Poonam Yadav and becoming India’s highest wicket-taker in a calendar year.
