Global streaming platform Netflix has introduced a new initiative in India aimed at nurturing the next generation of creative writers. The program, titled the “Netflix NextGen India Writers’ Program,” is designed to identify emerging talent and provide them with structured guidance to develop their storytelling skills.
Selected participants will undergo a two-month hybrid training program that includes workshops, industry-led sessions, and professional mentorship. The focus will be on helping writers develop original ideas and transform them into fully structured screenplays.
The initiative is aimed at encouraging new voices in Indian storytelling, particularly for web series and digital-first content. Participants will receive exposure to industry practices and creative development processes used in professional content production.
Netflix has been increasingly investing in regional and India-focused content, and this program is seen as part of its broader strategy to strengthen local storytelling ecosystems.
Industry observers believe such initiatives will help emerging writers from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds in India gain access to global storytelling platforms and opportunities.
