District officials will jointly write to the Telangana government seeking solutions to policy-related issues concerning the development of ROFR patta lands and the digging of borewells in forest areas, Collector Rajarshi Shah said on Friday.
ITDA Project Officer Manda Makarandu and forest officials also discussed the issues raised by tribal farmers during a social audit conducted in Utnoor mandal.
The Central government is conducting the social audit as a pilot project among beneficiaries of the Forest Rights Act, 2006, to assess its implementation and understand how tribals are benefiting from Recognition of Forest Rights (ROFR) pattas.
Dongachintha and Bheersaipet gram panchayats were selected for the social audit and public hearing. The audit was conducted from August 2 to 9, followed by a public hearing on August 11.
During the hearing, Adivasi farmers who received ROFR pattas highlighted difficulties in cultivating podu lands. They also raised concerns over the transfer of pattas to legal heirs after the death of patta holders.
Officials assured that the issues would be taken up with the state government and efforts would be made to resolve the policy-related hurdles.
