Six Notifications Cover 2,050 Vacancies

The SLPRB has issued six separate recruitment notifications for various posts across multiple departments.

The vacancies cover Sub-Inspectors, Reserve Sub-Inspectors, Police Constables, Firemen, Jail Warders, Communication personnel, Drivers, Mechanics and Scientific Assistants.

The total number of notified vacancies is 2,050, although vacancy figures remain subject to the conditions mentioned in the recruitment notifications.

378 Sub-Inspector Posts

A total of 378 posts are available under the main Sub-Inspector recruitment.

The breakup includes:

  • SCT Sub-Inspector of Police (Civil) – 253

  • Reserve Sub-Inspector of Police (AR) – 116

  • Sub-Inspector in the Special Protection Force – 9

Civil and AR Sub-Inspector recruitment includes vacancies for men and women, while the SPF Sub-Inspector posts are for men.

60 Posts in Communications and PTO

The police communications category has 50 Sub-Inspector posts.

Another 10 posts are available for Sub-Inspectors in the Police Transport Organisation, taking the combined total in these two categories to 60.

Large Number of Constable Vacancies

Constable recruitment accounts for a significant portion of the total vacancies.

There are 542 Civil Police Constable posts and 285 Armed Reserve Constable posts.

The Communications wing has another 200 Police Constable posts.

In the Police Transport Organisation, 15 vacancies have been notified for mechanics and 198 for drivers.

Firemen and Prison Warders

The State Disaster Response and Fire Services Department has 158 Fireman vacancies.

The Prisons and Correctional Services Department has 150 posts for male warders and 21 posts for female warders.

Together, the Civil and AR constable, Fireman and Warder categories account for 1,156 vacancies under the relevant recruitment notification.

43 Scientific Assistant Posts

Recruitment is also being conducted for the Forensic Science Laboratory.

There are 43 Scientific Assistant vacancies, including:

  • Scientific Assistant – Physical: 10

  • Scientific Assistant – Chemical: 13

  • Scientific Assistant – Biology/Serology: 20

Candidates will not have the same educational requirement for every position.

Depending on the post, qualifications may range from Intermediate-level education to a degree, diploma, ITI qualification or specialised higher education in relevant scientific subjects.

Age Limit Depends on the Post

The age criteria also vary between different categories of posts.

The recruitment rules use July 1, 2026 as the age reckoning date, while the applicable minimum and maximum ages depend on the position.

Candidates should therefore verify the exact age requirements, local candidature conditions and reservation rules in the relevant notification.

Selection Process

The selection process will vary depending on the post.

For applicable positions, candidates may have to clear a Preliminary Written Test followed by a Physical Measurements Test and Physical Efficiency Test.

A Final Written Examination or technical paper may also be required.

Candidates applying for technical, driving or mechanics-related positions may additionally have to undergo trade or driving tests.

Certificate verification will be conducted at the appropriate stage of the recruitment process.

When Will Applications Open?

Although the six notifications were issued on September 16, 2026, the online application opening and closing dates have not yet been announced through the notification.

SLPRB has indicated that the application schedule and Preliminary Written Test details will be communicated separately through a press release.

Candidates should therefore wait for the official schedule before submitting applications.
