Andhra Pradesh is set to bring a major transformation to its tourism sector by integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into visitor services. The state government is working towards making Andhra Pradesh the first AI-powered tourism state in India.
As part of the initiative, AI-based services will be introduced at several tourist locations to enhance the experience of visitors. The programme will use advanced technology to provide detailed information about tourist attractions in a simple and interactive manner.
The NiVU AI platform will be implemented across important tourism destinations in the state. The Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC) has entered into a strategic agreement with Xplorer for introducing these AI-powered services.
In the first phase, the technology will be rolled out at around 30 major tourist locations. Over the next three years, the service is expected to expand to more than 100 tourism destinations across Andhra Pradesh.
The key feature of the initiative is the use of QR codes at tourist spots. Visitors can scan these codes using their smartphones to access information about historical monuments, beaches, forts, caves, cultural sites, and other attractions without the need to download any separate application.
The AI platform will provide information through text and voice features in multiple languages. With support for more than 130 languages, the service is designed to help both domestic and international tourists explore destinations more conveniently.
Officials said a pilot project conducted in Mangalagiri received a positive response from visitors, encouraging the expansion of the initiative across the state.
The move is part of Andhra Pradesh’s broader effort to modernise tourism services through digital technology. By combining AI with tourism, the government aims to provide personalised travel experiences and improve access to information for visitors.
The initiative is expected to benefit tourists by making travel planning easier while also promoting the state’s historical, cultural, and natural attractions on a larger scale.
With the introduction of AI-based tourism services, Andhra Pradesh hopes to set a new benchmark in smart tourism by using technology to create a more connected and convenient experience for travellers.
