The Army recruitment rally for Agniveer and technical services began in Visakhapatnam from midnight on Wednesday and will continue till September 20.

Around 10,355 candidates who qualified in the online written examination are participating in the recruitment rally.

On the first day, candidates took part in a 1.6-kilometre night run along RK Beach Road, from Kali Mata Temple to the Victory at Sea War Memorial. An average of 800 candidates are expected to participate in the night run every day.

Candidates who qualify in the night run will proceed to the remaining physical tests at the Municipal Stadium.

Visakhapatnam District Collector M. Abhishikth Kishore directed officials from the police, fire services, GVMC and revenue departments to make all necessary arrangements for the smooth conduct of the rally.

Officials have been asked to ensure adequate transport, power supply, CCTV cameras, public address systems and IT facilities for the candidates.

In view of the recruitment rally, traffic restrictions will remain in force on RK Beach from 11 pm to 7 am till September 20.
