The Gurugram Police has registered a case against stand-up comedian Pranit More and a web developer Himanshu Jangra following the viral “₹370 biryani” remark controversy that sparked nationwide outrage.

The incident took place during a comedy show in Gurugram, where an audience interaction video went viral showing Jangra making controversial remarks about a date and implying expectations linked to money spent on food. The clip was widely criticized online for promoting offensive and inappropriate views on consent and women’s dignity.

Police have booked the two under multiple sections, including provisions related to sexual harassment and obscenity under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the IT Act.

The controversy has also drawn attention from the National Commission for Women (NCW), which took suo motu cognisance and directed authorities to take swift action against those involved.

Following backlash, both individuals issued public apologies, while reports also suggest disciplinary consequences at the workplace level for Jangra. The case is currently under investigation, and further legal proceedings are expected.

Officials have also ordered removal of the viral content from social media platforms as part of the ongoing probe.
