The Telugu film industry is remembering veteran actor and comedian Jayaprakash Reddy on his death anniversary. Known for his distinctive Rayalaseema accent and powerful dialogue delivery, he entertained audiences with a wide range of villainous and comic roles.
Born on May 8, 1946, in Sirivella village of Allagadda Mandal in Kurnool district, Jayaprakash Reddy came from an agricultural family. He developed a passion for theatre at a young age. His father was also an actor, and the two often performed together in stage plays.
After completing his degree and teacher training, Jayaprakash Reddy worked as a Mathematics teacher. However, his passion for acting eventually led him to the film industry.
His breakthrough came with the 1997 film Preminchukundam Raa, in which he earned recognition as a villain. He went on to impress audiences with memorable negative roles in blockbuster films such as Samarasimha Reddy and Narasimha Naidu.
He later established himself as a popular comedian, appearing in films including King, Ready, Aata, Kick, Shadow, Pandaga Chesko and Silly Fellows.
His unique Rayalaseema dialect, expressions and impeccable comic timing made him a much-loved performer among Telugu audiences.
Jayaprakash Reddy passed away on September 8, 2020, after suffering a heart attack.
Though he is no longer with us, his memorable performances, distinctive style and unforgettable dialogues continue to live on in the hearts of Telugu cinema lovers.
