Indian classical dance tradition Kuchipudi is taking center stage in Atlanta through a unique photography exhibition created by SCAD MFA Photography student Anirudh Dhannayak. Titled “Natya Sampradaya – Dance and Traditions of Performing Arts,” the project highlights how Indian culture and heritage continue to thrive among the Indian-American diaspora across generations. Through powerful visuals, Anirudh captures the dedication, emotions, and artistic journey of students trained under renowned Kuchipudi guru Sasikala Penumarthi.
Presented as part of the SCAD MFA Photography Exhibition series, the exhibition will be held from May 22 to May 24, 2026, at Echo Contemporary Art in Atlanta. The opening reception on May 22 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. will feature a live dance performance, Indian-inspired ambience, and a special video premiere, offering visitors an immersive cultural experience. Admission is free, and organizers are inviting the community to come out and support Anirudh’s celebration of dance, heritage, and identity through visual storytelling.
